Q. Can I use colored pencil/crayon for the illustration page?
A. We recommend washable marker because marker reproduces so nicely. Colored pencils tend to reproduce very lightly and crayons may flake onto the text pages. You may scan colored pencil and crayon illustrations onto our kit pages.
Q. Can I cut and paste on the kit pages (either the text or illustration page)?
A. No, you may not cut & paste on the kit pages, the original kit pages become the first book.
Q. Can I use photos to illustrate my book?
A. Yes, but the photos must be scanned onto our kit illustration pages.
Q. Can I put a photo on the front cover and how do I affix the photo?
A. Yes, you may glue a photo on the cover worksheet (this is the only place you can paste or glue). The photo must be placed within the stamped rectangle on the cover worksheet.
Q. Can I use my own paper instead of the paper you provide in the kit?
A. We recommend that you use the high quality paper provided in the kit, but you may substitute your own paper. The paper would need to be the same size as our paper and you would need to leave 1/2" margin on all sides of the paper (both text and illustration pages).
Q. Can I use white out on the kit pages?
A. Yes, keep in mind that the original kit pages become the first book so you would be able to feel and see the white out but the reprints will reproduce beautifully.
Q. What is a deluxe book?
A. The deluxe book has a sturdier binding, the board that is used on the front and back cover is thicker, the endsheets have a reinforced tape and it has a multi-colored back panel.
Q. How do I know which of my students purchased additional reprints?
A. A parent payment list, which details all payments received, is sent with the book order. The coordinator of the publishing program receives this with the book invoice.
